Electrochemical measurements combined with
xyz translation stage

Description:

Simultaneous control of the xyz translation stage and the electrochemical interface by computer via a program developed on Testpoint software. Electrochemical Plexiglas cell and a xyz translation stage to control the relative position and displacement of an object with respect to a disk working electrode.Electrochemical interface coupled with a Frequency Response Analyzer (FRA) in order to study the DC or the AC response of the electrochemical cell.

Example of application:

  • Study of the variations of the flow of primary current to one or several disk electrodes due to an insulating or a conducting sphere,
  • Comparison between the experimental measurements and the predicted variations calculated by the collocation method developed by Jan Fransaer. That work is part of the project aiming at developing a particle sensor able to detect in a solution the presence and the motion of particles in the vicinity of an electrochemical probe made of several microdisk electrodes. The principle of detection is based on the variations of the electrolyte resistance measured on the microelectrodes and due to the presence of the particles.
